St Catherine’s College does not offer detailed individual feedback to applicants.

It should be noted that the Oxford undergraduate admissions process is extremely competitive. As the number of applications increases year-on-year the number of places available remains limited, and so increasing numbers of applicants face disappointment. Tutors have to make very difficult decisions between extremely able candidates who are qualified or predicted to be qualified well above the entry requirements. This means that even candidates of very high ability may not be successful.

Most Departments produce summary documents containing performance statistics for the applicant cohort for their course(s) to help applicants and referees gain an insight into the shortlisting and selection processes, and to provide some context for decisions; links to these documents, where available, are listed below. You may also find it useful to refer to the selection criteria published on the Oxford undergraduate admissions website.

Test Scores

Please see the list below of which test scores are released to candidates by the College.

BMAT (Biomedical Admissions Test)

Results for the BMAT are released at the end of November via CAAT’s Metritests system. You will be given login details on the day of your test on an information sheet.

You should direct further questions about your BMAT results to CAAT, who administer this test.

ELAT (English Literature Admissions Test)

Due to the the technical problems and rubric confusion candidates experienced in sitting the Oxford ELAT, The Faculty of English announced that they would not be using ELAT scores in their formal shortlisting calculation this year, and that ELAT scripts would not be marked.

Therefore candidates will not be able to receive their results for the ELAT this year (2023 test).

HAT (History Aptitude Test)

LNAT (National Admissions Test for Law)

Candidates sitting the LNAT will receive their results by email in mid-February from the LNAT exam board. You should direct further queries to LNAT, who administer this test.

MAT (Mathematics Admissions Test)

MAT scores will be automatically distributed to all applicants shortly after college decision letters are sent.

This will include both the first sitting and the second sitting (“mini-MAT”) if applicable.
