The Lodge

The Lodge has a number of purposes, including: collecting and handing back bedroom and meeting room keys, collecting and posting mail, dealing with lost property, delivering academic work to College lecturers and Fellows, dealing with emergencies and reporting security issues.

Outside of the period 7.00 am to 6.00 pm from Monday to Friday, the Lodge is primarily concerned with issues of safety and security. They are able to get in touch with the appropriate staff, including the Junior Deans and emergency services.

An online system is in operation for booking sports and other facilities (Music House, squash courts, punts). Punting, as an activity, involves risks. Those taking out a punt need to be aware that they are taking on those risks and should exercise considerable care. Taking out a punt means that you are prepared to abide by the conditions of use.

Accommodation

If you live in College, the College will supply a mattress and all bedding. At the beginning of the year you will be asked to verify the inventory for the contents and condition of your room/flat using on online form. Any damages or losses will be recorded at the end of each term and, under the Residential Agreement, there will be charges for any loss or damage other than for fair wear and tear.

By partnering with Endsleigh, the No.1 student insurance provider, we’ve arranged free contents insurance for all our students staying with us.

It is important all students confirm their cover to ensure you understand what is and isn’t covered. Plus you’ll also be entered into a prize draw, courtesy of Endsleigh!

Visit confirm your cover to see:

  • What is and what isn’t covered
  • Key exclusions – where cover isn’t provided
  • Policy excess – the amount you pay when you make a claim
  • How to make a claim
  • Personalise cover

We understand students have a limited budget so Endsleigh have launched brand new, unique student insurance options. They have been designed to cover the risks that you may encounter whilst living in student accommodation and away from home.

You can apply to stay in College during the vacations by returning and completing the appropriate form.

Cleaning

Our busy housekeeping team, known as ‘scouts’ (cleaners) take pride in making the St Catz look its best, cleaning rooms and communal areas around the College. You are permitted to place a Do Not Disturb notice on your door and place your waste bin outside of it, to restrict access until 11.00 am on days other than the pre-arranged cleaning day. Please only do this when absolutely necessary.

There is a self-service launderette in the College, payable using the Upay system, and ironing facilities are also available.
