St Catz Academic Review: call for abstracts

The Catz MCR is launching a new, interdisciplinary academic journal based at the College, run by graduate and undergraduate students: St Catherine’s Academic Review (SCAR).

The aim is to provide current students and alumni of St Catherine’s a platform to publish their research and to fuel interdisciplinary dialogue. SCAR comprises three broad sections, namely, humanities, social sciences and sciences.

Abstracts are now welcome for original research and for shortened versions of already-published works (‘extended abstracts’). Abstracts must be no longer than 500 words and must contain no references to the identity of their author. The deadline for abstracts and extended abstracts is: 10 July 2021. Please note that this deadline has been extended.

There is also a call for book reviews for the inaugural issue of the journal. Book reviews should provide a critical and comprehensive analysis of academic publications, with specific attention towards methodologies and approaches.

A book review should include:

  • an overview of the book’s contents
  • a concise overview of the book’s central topics
  • a critical analysis of the book’s significance by evaluating the strengths and weaknesses, and its relevance to the field.

The maximum word count for a book review is 1500 words. Deadline: 15 July 2021.
