Catz alumni recognised in 2022 Birthday Honours

St Catherine’s College is pleased to share the news that two alumni have been recognised in the 2022 Birthday Honours.

Kate Hughes (1992, Geography) has been appointed as Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE). Kate receives the honour for services to tackling climate change.

Kate works in the UK Government’s Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, where she is a senior civil servant focusing on climate change. She was heavily involved with the recent COP26 climate talks, which were hosted by the UK in Glasgow, and works within the UK and with international partners on climate change.

Anthony Brown (1973, English) has been awarded a British Empire Medal (BEM) for services to public libraries. The appointment recognises his work to save public libraries in Suffolk. He also sits on the board of Suffolk Libraries, a charity which runs the county’s library service.

We extend very warm congratulations to both of them.
