Meeting Minds: Compromised Space at the UN

Join Professor Fiona McConnell, Professor of Political Geography and Tutorial Fellow at St Catherine’s, as she discusses Compromised Space at the UN: experiences of minority groups, indigenous communities and stateless nations.

This talk examines the challenges faced by diplomats from stateless communities advocating at the UN. Drawing on interviews with representatives from minority groups, indigenous communities and exiled governments, Fiona discusses the blocking tactics used by states to prevent individuals from speaking at the UN, and the creative ways these representatives make their voices heard.

Join us in the Bernard Sunley Lecture Theatre at 5.30pm for the talk, which will be followed by a drinks reception in the foyer.
