Gaudy for 2003 – 2012 Matriculands

We are deeply saddened to inform you that due to safety concerns around the use of Reinforced Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (RAAC) in College, the Gaudy for 2003-2012 Matriculands is postponed until further notice.

St Catherine’s College is aware of the recent issues that have come to light in the media regarding the use of reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete (RAAC) in buildings, following its reported failure in a small number of education settings. As with many buildings constructed in the 1960s, the College uses RAAC in certain areas of its site. Given this, the College has recently engaged independent consultants to undertake appropriate risk assessments of the affected areas, which are principally located within the original Arne Jacobsen site: the top floor of staircases 1-16, the JCR and SCR, the Administration Block, the kitchen, the Hall, the Library, and the Bernard Sunley Building.

While these investigations are ongoing, the College has decided to restrict access to the affected areas temporarily, to enable investigations and assessments to take place, and mitigations to be put in place. We will keep the restrictions under continuous review with the expectation of lifting restrictions prior to the arrival of students in October.
Refund process

We would like to offer you a few options.

Please fill out this form with your chosen option by no later than 5pm on Friday 29 September – if we do not hear from you, we will hold your booking until a new date is confirmed.

1. We can offer a full refund for your booking
2. We can keep your booking and hold your place until a new date is confirmed – we will honour the option of a full refund if the new date does not work for you.
3. If you have booked overnight accommodation, the College will honour these bookings but can only provide a packed breakfast. If you choose this option, we will refund you the remaining balance.
4. The final option is to donate the value of your ticket to College for which we would be extremely grateful. You can find more about donating to the College here.

Please note: there may be a slight delay in processing refunds due to the Development Office currently working remotely.

We hope to have a new date for this event as soon as possible, and we will be in touch once we have this confirmed. News on the RAAC investigations will be updated on the Catz website in the meantime.
