Catz Honorary Fellow appointed to the Court of Appeal
St Catherine’s College is delighted to announce that The Honorable Mr Justice Ian Dove (1982, Law) has been appointed to the Court of Appeal. This distinction recognises Sir Dove’s term on the High Court Bench, as well as his judicial experience.
Sir Dove came up in 1982 to read Law; in 2016, he was appointed an Honorary Fellow of the College, having received his Knighthood in 2015. He was called to the Bar at Inner Temple in 1986, and has since been described as “an extremely client-focused, sharp, and commercial barrister.”
Sir Dove is a judge of the High Court of England and Wales, and a highly respected barrister in the fields of Environmental and Public Law. He has spent much of his career at No. 5 Chambers. In 2014, he was appointed as a High Court Judge to the King’s Bench Division, and then as the President of the Upper Tribunal, Immigration and Asylum Chamber in late 2022.
Alongside Sir Ian Dove, the appointments of Mrs Justice Cockerill, Mr Justice Foxton, Mrs Justice May, Mr Justice Miles, and Mrs Justice Yip have been approved.
We extend the warmest congratulations to Sir Ian Dove for this honour. For more information, and to learn more about those Lord and Lady Justices who have also been recognised, please read here.
