Catz alumna awarded MBE in New Years Honours for Tampon Tax campaign

Laura Coryton (Women’s Studies, 2017)  has been awarded an MBE in the King’s New Years Honours in recognition of her services to Charitable Campaigning. She is best known for her work on period poverty, having led the campaign to end the ‘tampon tax’, as well as being the co-founder of Sex Ed Matters.

Speaking on her award, Laura Coryton said, “Friends and professors at St Catz gave so much support and guidance to my campaigning which contributed hugely to this award. I’m really thankful for this and for the amount the college inspired and motivated me to keep going during challenging times.”

We congratulate her on this well-deserved award and look forward to seeing what she does next. An article by Laura will be included in the forth-coming edition of The Year.
