About me

I am the professor of mathematical modelling at Oxford and have broad interests across mathematics, science, and engineering. At the Mathematical Institute, I am the director of the Oxford Centre for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (OCIAM).  My current research includes the mathematics of biological growth; the modelling of batteries and photovoltaic devices; the foundations of mechanics; and the development of new mathematical methods. More recently, I have been interest in exploring the many mysteries of the human brain and I am the co-director and co-founder of the International Brain Mechanics and Trauma Lab. Find more about my research at www.goriely.com.

At the Mathematical Institute, I am also the director of External Relations and Public Engagement. As such I am in charge of the public lecture series and coordinate all external activities.
