2025 Wallace Watson Award winners announced

The 2025 Wallace Watson Award Lectures took place on Thursday, 13 March, featuring inspiring stories from last year’s winners, Ava Peralta and Henry Williams, who traced the coffee supply chain through the Peruvian Andes. The evening concluded with the announcement of the 2025 award recipients, recognizing exceptional expeditions, research, and career-driven explorations.

Isabel Spitzer – A trek through Tajikistan’s Fann mountains

Wallace Watson Research Award Winner 2025:

Tareef Ahmed & Ahmed Muhtadi – Visiting villages in rural Bangladesh, investigation the local effectiveness of current government policy

Wallace Watson Career Scholarship Winners 2025:

Enes Kiraz – Researching the National Archives of Georgia, Azerbaijan & Armenia

Sonakshi Grover – To understand the landscape of family law & women’s rights in Nairobi, Kenya

Joao Matos – To participate in the first Amazonian Health Datathon in Manaus, Brazil

The Wallace Watson awards encourage and assist undergraduate and graduate members of St Catherine’s College, Oxford to undertake expeditions or travel of a challenging nature and thereby foster an inner strength of character and a broadening of the mind.
