Kimberlé Crenshaw in conversation at St Catz
St Catherine’s College was delighted to welcome renowned legal scholar, civil rights advocate and public intellectual Kimberlé Crenshaw for a special in-conversation event with the Master, Jude Kelly CBE, on Friday 22 May.

Held before a sold-out audience, the discussion marked the publication of Kimberlé’s new memoir, Backtalker, and explored themes spanning identity, institutions, justice and public discourse.
Widely recognised as one of the most influential thinkers of her generation, her work across law, scholarship and activism has challenged established thinking and brought new perspectives to some of the defining social and political debates of recent decades.

In a thoughtful and candid conversation with the Master, Kimberlé reflected on her upbringing during the civil rights era, the experiences which shaped her outlook, and the continuing importance of questioning power and speaking openly in difficult or contested spaces. The discussion also drew on themes from Backtalker, offering personal insight into the life and work behind ideas that continue to resonate globally.

St Catz extends its sincere thanks to Kimberlé for joining us, and to everyone who attended and helped make the evening such a memorable occasion.
