Success: Our Alumni Unlock £50,000 for Catz!

With 20% of our alumni making donations in the 2015-16 financial year, our community was one of the most generous in Oxford. This support has had a powerful impact on our students: world class tutorial teaching, financial help for 1 in 5 undergraduates and nearly 1 in 10 postgraduates, and much more!

This year, one of our alums challenged us to reach these amazing results once again. They pledged to make a generous donation of £50,000 if 20% of our community give to Catz by the end of the current financial year.

Give from abroad

St Catherine's College in the University of Oxford’ is a Registered Charity (No. 1143817) in the United Kingdom. US residents can give to St Catz tax effectively through Americans for Oxford. It is also possible to make tax efficient donations from a number of other locations worldwide, including Germany, Canada and Hong Kong.

Giving to Catz

The generosity of our Alumni, Parents and Friends has enabled St Catherine’s to become a world-class academic institution, with the power to transform its students’ lives and inspire great contributions to our society. Your donations are essential to our success and will be ever more vital in helping us meet the challenges of the future.

Why St Catherine's Needs Your Support

With increased tuition fees and rising living costs, one of our main goals is to preserve and enhance the financial support we provide for students in need. We provide financial support to 1 in 5 Catz undergraduates, helping over 100 students in need.

Our College’s roots stretch back to the ‘Delegacy’, founded in 1868 with the aim of enabling students to come to Oxford who could not afford to pay high fees. This spirit remains with us today, and your support will be crucial in helping us ensure that students from all backgrounds can come to St Catherine’s.

When students arrive at our College, we want them to continue benefitting from our unique tutorial system, which is under pressure due to cuts in government funding. Our ability to provide one-on-one tuition depends on our low student-to-tutor ratio, and the support of our Donors will be essential in preserving this for generations to come. Your gifts will also assist the world-class research of our Fellows, which addresses subjects as diverse as computer security, Middle East politics, and infectious disease. Your donations will help protect our unique tutorial system.

Our Grade I Listed buildings provide a comfortable and spacious environment for our students. In order to ensure that St Catherine’s remains a great place to live and work, we are modernising our buildings in line with the latest technological, environmental and access standards. Your support will play a very important role in this endeavour, as we look to reduce our carbon footprint and make our buildings as modern and accessible as possible.

The involvement and support of Alumni, Parents and Friends will help us to continue flourishing as a world-class academic institution. Thanks to your gifts, we can be more confident of our ability to preserve the very high quality of education we offer at St Catherine’s.

Rail services

Trains run at least once an hour between Oxford and London, and twice an hour during peak times. Oxford is also on the main cross-country routes.

Coach/bus

There are frequent buses, 24 hours a day, between London (Victoria Bus Station) and Oxford, run by the Oxford Bus Company and the Oxford Tube. There are also direct and regular services to Oxford from Heathrow and Gatwick airports operated by the Oxford Bus Company. Coach services from other parts of the country are available with National Express and other providers.

On foot

St Catherine's is on the edge of the City Centre and we recommend that visitors arriving at the bus or train station take a taxi to the College, especially if they are bringing luggage. Walking from the City Centre to St Catherine's will take between 15 and 20 minutes or from the train station around 25-30 minutes.

By bike

Catz has ample parking for bicycles and the bike shed is a listed building. Cycling is probably the best way to get around central Oxford.
