Sport
Catz is particularly proud of its sporting
achievements, taking part and excelling in both league and cuppers
competitions. Many of our students also take part in sport in the
university at Blues level. Our achievements were recognised in 2004
when we won the award for Sporting College of the Year.
True to our roots in the St Catherine's Society, rowing remains
strong at Catz. We continue to attract the best in the sport and
this year two of our rowers, Chris Livsky and Andy Triggs-Hodge,
were part of the victorious Oxford crew at the Boatrace, whilst
Colin Smith represented in the Isis crew. At college level, in
Torpids, the men's 1st boat were narrowly denied blades this year
whilst the women's 1st team rowed over on two days and bumped twice.
In Summer Eights, the men's 1st boat rowed over three times and
bumped on the last day.

Recent sporting achievements for Catz teams have included cuppers
champions and promotion in women's football; second-place league
finish for men's 1st XI in football, with the 2nd XI reaching the
cuppers final; rugby cuppers semi-finalists and top division
position; league final and cuppers victories in lacrosse; women's
hockey promotion; badminton cuppers victory; and men's swimming
cuppers winners. As you may expect from the college with the largest
bar, we've also enjoyed success at pool, darts and table football.
Our size also means that we often host other bar sports tournaments,
with the darts cuppers finals having recently been held here.
Sports facilities available to the college include Catz pitches, the
Boathouse, and a large gym with table tennis and two squash courts.
Catz really is lucky to have such a
well-equipped gym on site, a luxury which many other colleges do
not benefit from.
