Peter Edwards has been Professor and Head of Inorganic Chemistry since late 2003 when he relocated from his position as Professor of Chemistry and Materials and Birmingham University, 1993-2003. Before that he was at Cambridge University as Fellow and Director of Studies in Chemistry at Jesus College, 1979-1991. His main interests centre on the electronic properties of solids and liquids, high temperature superconductivity and the storage of hydrogen in solids and the Metal-to-Insulator phase transition.
He is currently Coordinator of the UK Sustainable Hydrogen Energy Consortium. He was elected Fellow of the Royal Society in 1996 and in 2003 was awarded the Hughes Medal of the Society.
