Jim Thomson teaches organic chemistry at St. Catherine's. He was originally an undergraduate student at the University of Oxford and remained there to complete his D.Phil. studies working with Professor Steve Davies. In 2006 Jim moved from New College, Oxford to join the chemistry teaching team at St Catherine’s and in 2007 was elected to a fellowship.
Jim’s research interests lie in the area of synthetic organic chemistry and asymmetric synthesis. Recent projects have included enantiorecognition processes, the development of novel asymmetric transformations, and the total synthesis of natural products of biological significance.
