David Womersley

Thomas Warton Professor of English Literature

David Womersley has been a Professorial Fellow of St. Catherine's since 2002; before that he had been Fellow and Tutor in English at Jesus College, Oxford since 1984. He has research interests which extend from the early sixteenth to the early nineteenth centuries, and he has, in particular, published on Burke, Johnson, and Gibbon.

He is one of the General Editors of the forthcoming Cambridge edition of the complete writings of Jonathan Swift, for which he is editing the volume devoted to Gulliver's Travels.
