Undergraduate Overview

St Catherine's is the youngest undergraduate college and one of the largest. It offers a wide range of subjects with a roughly even science-arts ratio. With three Nobel Prize winners among its alumni and many Fellows with an international reputation, the College justly prides itself on its place at the cutting edge of innovation and academic research. At the same time, low, modern buildings and restful, open spaces give the College a friendly and relaxed atmosphere in which everyone is quickly made to feel at home.

Being a modern College, we are lucky in having exceptional facilities. These include the undergraduate living accommodation, the library, music, sport, and recreational facilities and spacious and beautiful gardens in which to relax. The accommodation in College is in centrally heated single rooms, some with en-suite bathrooms, and the quality and value of our Hall food is attested to by the number dining in College every evening.

Many undergraduates appreciate the tranquillity of the college grounds which are extensive and include a water garden. Everything, even washing machines, gymnasium, squash courts, the Music House, is immediately to hand. Oxford is close at hand too: although we are in a rural setting, we are very close to the English Faculty, the Law Library, the Bodleian Library, the Science Area, and just a few minutes from the Arts Faculties. The centre of town is ten minutes on foot - much less by bicycle.
