Olympic heroes return to Catz

The College welcomed two distinguished guests for dinner in 4th week of Hilary Term. Catz heroes Zoe De Toledo (2010, Experimental Psychology) and Andy Triggs Hodge OBE (2004, Geography and the Environment) joined the Master, Professor Roger Ainsworth, on High Table for an evening celebrating the duos’ rowing achievements at last year’s Olympic Games.

Andy won his third gold medal in Rio while Zoe’s crew won Team GB’s first ever Olympic medal for the women’s eight. Both Olympians brought their medals with them to show them to the students over dinner. Alex Miller (2016, Geography and the Environment) is one of the students who met with Andy and Zoe. “The dinner was great”, said Alex. “It was nice to see how enthusiastic and encouraging the community at St Catherine's is in support of its alumni!”

“It was an immense privilege to have these two back with us”, commented Professor Ainsworth. “No other Oxbridge college can boast two medals out of 67 in Great Britain’s most successful Olympics. We were glad to have the opportunity to honour their achievements with the undergraduate and graduate students here at the College.”
